Champions of a second chapter

RoR is British Horseracing's official charity for the welfare of horses who have retired from racing, and we are proud to support their Horses for Courses Ambassador scheme.

We were thrilled to have been able to welcome our ambassadors Frodon and Black Corton to visit us last season - not just to parade, but to give our visitors the chance to meet these equine heroes up close. We look forward to continuing this partnership next season.

A huge thank you to the owners of both horses and the entire Frost team, who have made all of this possible.

Getting to know

Frodon

Foaled in March 2012, Frodon is a true crowd favourite - a Cheltenham specialist who won there six times across a glittering career. Eleven of his nineteen victories came under jockey Bryony Frost, who became the first female jockey to win a Grade 1 jump race in Britain aboard him.

Retired in December 2023, he now lives with the Frost family on Dartmoor under the care of Head Girl Philippa Hyne, and loves nothing more than galloping across the moors. A cheeky chap who knows his own mind - Frodon doesn't like being ignored, and will kick his stable door if he feels he isn't getting the attention he deserves!

Top treats: Polos and parsnips - though the grass in the paddock at Taunton seemed particularly tasty last meeting.

Getting to know

Black Corton

Foaled in April 2011, Black Corton is the horse Bryony Frost often described as the one who launched her professional career. From 35 jump-race starts he recorded 14 wins, 9 seconds and 3 thirds - including the Grade 1 Kauto Star Novices' Chase at Kempton in 2017, the Sodexo Reynoldstown Chase in 2018 and the bet365 Oaksey Chase in 2019.

Retired in February 2021, Black Corton is the calm one of the pair - very laid back and chilled. His top treats are apples and carrots, and unlike his stablemate he's not so keen on Polos… which suits Frodon just fine, as it means he can have all of them.
