Before you set off
A warm welcome awaits you
The designated Owners' car park, for those with runners on the day, is clearly signposted as you approach the course. Gates open two hours before the first race, giving you time to settle in, see your horse, and enjoy everything the day has to offer.
Taunton Racecourse sits just two miles south of Taunton town centre on the B3170, easily reached from the M5, the A303 and the wider South West. The essentials are below; whichever way you travel, we'll be ready for you.

Pick the route that suits you. If you're arriving by helicopter or taxi, please let us know in advance so we can have everything ready.

By road
On the B3170 between Taunton, Corfe and Honiton, about two miles south of Taunton. Leave the M5 at Junction 25 and follow the signs for the Racecourse. From the A303 (Honiton/Exeter) turn left onto the B3170 straight to the course; from the A303 (Chard/Ilminster) turn right at La Campagna, continue to the crossroads, turn right and follow the B3170.

By rail
Taunton railway station is around four miles from the Racecourse. There is no public bus service between the station and the course, so do plan onward travel by courtesy bus or taxi.

Courtesy bus
A courtesy bus by Berrys Coaches departs the main ticket office entrance at the railway station 90 minutes before the first race and returns 30 minutes after the last race. Passengers from Taunton are issued a return ticket giving priority on the way back; seats are not guaranteed without one.

By helicopter
Helicopters may land with prior permission from the Chief Executive Officer - please contact us in advance to arrange. No landings within 30 minutes of the first race and no take-offs until 30 minutes after the last, except by permission of the Clerk of the Course. We cannot accommodate fixed-wing aircraft.

By taxi
Please tell us in advance if you're arriving by taxi - the drop-off is at the Taunton End entrance, not the main entrance, and we're happy to leave tickets or badges there for collection. Taxis wait at the Taunton End entrance after the last race; book onward travel ahead of time.

Staying over
Having a short break? The Castle Hotel (4* in Taunton), the Greyhound Inn (a country pub with rooms about 3.5 miles away) and the Taunton House Hotel (3* in Taunton) are all comfortable bases close to the course.
